Elbert W. Burr founded his own consultancy, Intentional Change, in 1983 after 28 years in Monsanto Company's human resources function. His areas of interest as a consultant are organizational improvement and in assisting adults making career changes.
During his career at Monsanto, Mr. Burr served in the management development function, in professional employment, in career planning, and in directing the total human resource function in an operating unit (five years) and in the corporation's international operations (eight years). In a senior consultant assignment, which proceeded his retirement, he developed the corporation's career continuation program, counseled with senior management, administered advanced management programs, and prepared long range plans for the human resource function.
In 1982, Mr. Burr was a member of and the personnel officer for the President's Private Sector Survey (The Grace Commission) Task Force, which studied the Department of Energy.
He has been a trustee of Blackburn College, a director of the St. Louis Metropolitan Coordinating Committee for Vocational Education and is a director of Eden Theological Seminary. He has served on the boards of a variety of community agencies including eleven years on suburban school boards. He has been an adjunct lecturer in management in the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He was AEA President in 1956-57.
