Hall of Fame Class of 1996

During her more than 25 years at Florida State University (FSU), Mary Pankowski instructed, researched, supervised, and administered in every aspect of continuing education, from developing a feasibility study and designing programs for the Continuing Education Center in the early '70s to directing a $6 million budget for the Florida State Conference Center. In addition to her positions as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (External Programs) and Director of the Center for Professional Development, she directed the Hardee Center for Women in Higher Education, taught a graduate seminar in university continuing education, and chaired the Distinguished Lecture Series Committee. She developed a Returning Student Seminar at FSU and established the Mary L. Pankowski Returning Student Scholarship Fund.

In 1994, she began serving as Vice President for the North Campus and University Outreach at Florida International University where she is responsible for university-wide continuing and adult education. She also developed a Returning Student Seminar at Florida International and has begun fundraising efforts to create a Returning Student Scholarship Fund there as well.

She serves as Chair of the Commission of Educational Credit and Credentials for the American Council on Education and is Past President (1988-1989) of the National University Continuing Education Association.
