Tom Kinney has been at the University of Albany, State University of New York (SUNY) for over 20 years where he is responsible for educational programs among six SUNY campuses. As Director of the Professional Development Program of the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy for 20 years, he initiated the Public Service Training Program for state employees in collaboration with over 100 educational institutions across the state, the Addiction Training Center, the Executive Leadership Institute, and the Quality Forum which provides programs on total quality management for 200 public, private, and not-for-profit organizations. He has been Treasurer of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, Past-Chair of its Commission on Continuing Professional Education, and Chair of the Division of Continuing Education for the Professions of the National University Continuing Education Association. He was named Continuing Educator of the Year by the Continuing Education Association of New York, has received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence, and the AAACE's Outstanding Service Medallion. He is co-founder of the Russian-American Center of Adult and Continuing Education in Moscow and was the first foreigner elected as a professor in the Russian Academy of Education.
